Why is cronyism rare under capitalism?

Because a properly limited government, unlike our government today, is not in the “business” of handing out favors to special interests. Politicians and the few bureaucrats around have very limited powers, so there is little or no reason for special interest groups to court them. Instead, individuals and groups must persuade others to voluntarily support their aims in the marketplace.
