As a rule of thumb, what type of candidate should you not vote for?

Vote against a candidate who advocates for initiatives that would decrease the respect for your individual rights and increase undue government influence in your life:

  • imposing new regulations
  • increasing taxes (federal income and capital gains taxes, state income and sales taxes, local property and sales taxes, etc.)
  • increasing government licensing fees (occupational licensing, vehicle, building permit, and other fees)
  • increasing government spending on entitlement programs such as Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid
  • increasing government debt (by issuing new bonds or loans, etc.).
  • adding new or increasing existing tariffs and subsidies
  • increasing government ownership of land, buildings, etc.
