Why is inflation a silent killer? How does inflation complicate the transition to a capitalist social system?

Inflation erodes our savings and purchasing power—the higher the inflation, the faster the erosion. The fact that inflation makes our money worth less with each passing year complicates the transition from welfare statism to capitalism as it erodes growth and hence income, and consequently lowers the taxes (in real terms) that are needed to finance the initial stages of the transition.
